Horror

Over the weekend I watched The Strangers. I had already seen the movie, but it was still very scary at 4 a.m. Sunday morning. I watched it with a couple of friends and it was a fun movie to watch with them, it was just really scary. In the movie (that is based on real events) this couple go to a cabin in the middle of no where in the middle of the night to stay for a night. It was supposed to be their honey moon cabin but the to be fiancee actually declined the man so it was a really awkward beginning with them both in the cabin. Anyways though there are no monsters or anything like that in the movie, there are just a group of people with masks over their faces who mess with the couple. There was not a lot of gore, it was just a freaky movie because the camera would be focused for example on the women looking at something at one end of a room, and then you would like see a masked man walking around in the back ground moving stuff such as throwing cell phones in the fire and taking car keys. The freaky part is that the main characters do not realize that masked people can get into the house until they go for an object when they need it and it is not their. As the movie goes on the masked people become even more violent, and they end up eventually killing the couple. Another thing that made the movie freaky was the fact that you never see the people's faces because they are always wearing a mask, and also at the end of the movie, there were statistics about how so many people get killed in the country each year in similar fashion.

In the future I think that if their was an apocalypse it will be because of a nuclear war between China, The United States of America, and North Korea. I think that most of the entire world will die and that everything will under a cloud of nuclear cloud of debris. There will not be anything left in the world and everyone will be dead, so if that happens then I think that will be my future.
I think that my future will be mostly similar as with the nuclear war, but in my future no one will survive at all so that is the biggest difference between my future and the book or movie's  portrayal of the future.

Copy and paste link above for an awesome picture of a bomb.

In the scene when Deckard and Rachel first meet, the lighting is very dark throughout the entire scene usually only showing half of a characters face. The dialogue throughout the scene is very business like, and very formal. The dialogue in the scene almost suggested  hostility in my opinion. The two characters were really cold to one another and they seemed really witty. The costumes in the scene were not anything special, Rachel looked like any ordinary secretary and Deckard looked like a futuristic Indiana Jones. This relates to the rest of the movie because the rest of the movie is also filmed in almost complete darkness which makes the movie very mysterious. I think that is was made to be a darker film because of the mysterious nature of Deckard and also of the future world in 2019.

The dialogue in the scene tears in the rain was very moving towards both the audience and the viewer. Ric's speech about how his memories will be lost forever once he dies and it is just a really sad part because he is describing all of these things that no one has ever seen before and i dont know it was just moving. I think that listening to Ric describe all of his memories is what caused Deckard to have a flash back about the dove flying through the sky, and I think that this is the time that Deckard finally realizes that he is an android and not a human. The music in the scene was very tranquil and seemed to almost reenforce the fact that both Deckard and Ric had these awesome memories that were not real and they would all be lost. The lighting in the scene was very dark besides Deckard's flash back of a dove flying through the sky.

The future for Deckard and Rachel is very simple. They are going to run away and live in some random area in northern California and are going to be tracked down and killed by some other Blade Runner. They are going to live in like a log cabin or some abandoned area, and the cop who makes the stick figures is going to come after them and snipe them with a futuristic sniper rifle and kill them both. They will never even see it coming, and it will be double points because both shots are going to be head shots ha. Another possibility I could see happening is that Deckard and Rachel move to an off world planet and start a rebellion with all of the androids.

My research topic so far is Tattoo's, my research about my topic is going about average I would say. Mostly the history of tattoo's are found in books, but yet all of the studies and like future things are about journals. In the books i have ordered, it gives a complete history of tattoos in many different cultures and also states the different ways that tattoos were given in past cultures. Most of the studies I have found so far that are up to date or recent are about the different techniques used to remove tattoos, and also another big study i liked was about the transfer of diseases while getting tattoos. I have yet to find a solution to this main problem (how to avoid geting different diseases from needles), but i think one of the books i ordered might have a solution. So all i need to do is just go back to Alden and look at different sources.

temp 451

So wow ha, that was an awful movie. It actually had some very intresting themes though, and most of the movie could be related to Nazi Germany in some way. Most of the characters all had the notorious aryan look, with the blonde hair combed to the side and the blue eyes. Another thing that made me think of a Nazi related subject was when the wife turned the husband in. This made me think of how many German citizens would turn in people who were hiding jews, and they would get a reward. Also when the woman died when defending her house, that reminded me of how many German citizens tried to hide jews. The whole secret library was very similar, and when that other girl came home to her house being boarded up and that is what happened in Germany. People who hid jews would competely just go off the radar.

Objectivfied Movie

One of the things I found really interesting in this technology movie was the land fill topic. I had never really thought about how much stuff we use and how much and how big land fills must really be, because every person uses about the same much of stuff, and people are all over the world, so where does all that garbage go. Like are their underwater just piles of trash, or mountains being formed. Like in the future there could be entire mountain formations that are made of just trash.
Another thing that really caught my attention was a quote at the end. "We used to think Africa  was so far away, but with our connected world we could really make a difference." When I heard that quote I thought to myself that is really true. When you think about the other side of the world it seems almost none real, like it is on almost a different planet. It just seems like there is nothing you could do to make an impact on anybody over there but with how teched up our world is now, we really could make an impact.
Lastly what I thought about was how weird it is going to be living in say twenty years. We already think that the world is super high tech now, but think about how weird it is going to be. Like honestly the possibilities are endless because people are just getting smarter and new technology keeps coming out. I guess I just feel like it is going to be mind blowing with all of the new technology that will be available to us all.

Bad Scenes of a Blade Runner

The scene where Deckard is killing the android Pris was completely awful. The acting by the Pris character when she got shot was probably one of the worst "deaths" I have seen in any movie. Also when the fight started Deckard was getting his face beat with Pris's legs? Like come on that is not realistic at all and if that was actually happening then Pris would not have let go with her legs and run away to do cart wheels, she would of stayed on top of him and beat him to death instead of giving him a chance to kill her. Overall I just did not like how the scene was written or played out, it could of been a much more realistic fight and much more entertaining.

Climax

I was really disappointed with the climax of the book. I was more interested when Rick was told that Mercer was not real than when he went off to kill the rest of the androids. I feel like when Rick found out that it was a false religion it completely shattered what his belief system consisted of. When he went out to kill the androids it reminded me of beowulf mostly, how the whole book was building up and then it is a huge let down action wise. Their are chapters and chapters of anticipation and their is like one page of action. What I am looking forward to is to see how Rick deals with the Mercer situation. My overall thoughts I actually enjoyed reading the book so far, I am a pretty big fan of reading, even though I hate writing because I can never write down what I am trying to say, I would much rather be in a debate or give a speech. This was probably one of my top ten books I have had to read for school so far.

Do Androids Dream

My favorite scene in the book so far was when Roy and Pris were setting up the alarm to attack Rick. I just found this scene very interesting because I just found it funny that they were sitting around just talking about killing Rick and making John panic like it was nothing at all. Just them sitting around talking about it, the manner in which they were made it sound like they could be talking about anything in the world and I just found it funny and I think thats what makes the androids and the humans different in the book because humans feel empathy and the androids do not.

The scene that still confuses me the most is the whole Mercer deal. I just do not get why he keeps acting the way he does, and I want to know if he is a real person, or an android, or just someones puppet and if so I want to know who is pulling the strings.

Chapter 11 Blog

I know this is going to sound very generic but the two concepts or tips I most valued from this chapter was to schedule your time, and to save correctness for last. I think these both go hand in hand in my case because I usually am that guy who waits till the very last minute to type out a paper, and because I did that I had to make everything correct the first time I typed the paper, but I like the idea of just doing a paper a little a bit at a time because I believe that my papers would be a lot better because I will have more time to look it over and I will be less stressed also.
Another thing I need to work on while writing essay's is making it sound more formal, because usually when I write a paper it sounds like how I would talk in a conversation. While reading and taking notes on this chapter I just felt like it overall gave me tips as to not do it.
