Climax

I was really disappointed with the climax of the book. I was more interested when Rick was told that Mercer was not real than when he went off to kill the rest of the androids. I feel like when Rick found out that it was a false religion it completely shattered what his belief system consisted of. When he went out to kill the androids it reminded me of beowulf mostly, how the whole book was building up and then it is a huge let down action wise. Their are chapters and chapters of anticipation and their is like one page of action. What I am looking forward to is to see how Rick deals with the Mercer situation. My overall thoughts I actually enjoyed reading the book so far, I am a pretty big fan of reading, even though I hate writing because I can never write down what I am trying to say, I would much rather be in a debate or give a speech. This was probably one of my top ten books I have had to read for school so far.

Do Androids Dream

My favorite scene in the book so far was when Roy and Pris were setting up the alarm to attack Rick. I just found this scene very interesting because I just found it funny that they were sitting around just talking about killing Rick and making John panic like it was nothing at all. Just them sitting around talking about it, the manner in which they were made it sound like they could be talking about anything in the world and I just found it funny and I think thats what makes the androids and the humans different in the book because humans feel empathy and the androids do not.

The scene that still confuses me the most is the whole Mercer deal. I just do not get why he keeps acting the way he does, and I want to know if he is a real person, or an android, or just someones puppet and if so I want to know who is pulling the strings.

Chapter 11 Blog

I know this is going to sound very generic but the two concepts or tips I most valued from this chapter was to schedule your time, and to save correctness for last. I think these both go hand in hand in my case because I usually am that guy who waits till the very last minute to type out a paper, and because I did that I had to make everything correct the first time I typed the paper, but I like the idea of just doing a paper a little a bit at a time because I believe that my papers would be a lot better because I will have more time to look it over and I will be less stressed also.
Another thing I need to work on while writing essay's is making it sound more formal, because usually when I write a paper it sounds like how I would talk in a conversation. While reading and taking notes on this chapter I just felt like it overall gave me tips as to not do it.

Blade Runner

Something that really caught my eye in the reading was the guys reaction when he saw a racoon, and I guess it really caught my eye because I am so used to seeing them because I hunt but just him being so excited to see one was I thought funny.
The only part that confused me really was the part where he was "linked" to the old man and that whole climbing up the hill and how he was injured really confused me. But in chapter 4 it talked about how that old man came up with like the dominate religion led me to think that that scene will be further explained later on in the book.

Writing Notes

The most interesting thing i have read in the Allyn & Bacon Guide to Writing was the part in chapter 3 about reading with and against the grain of a text. I had never heard of reading in this particular way by supporting or arguing against the author's point. This part of the assigned reading caught my attention the most because I like to read a lot about Nazi Germany, and the rise of Adolf Hitler and people always say that I am a bad person for liking to read about him but i just admire him as a politician, and I lacked the knowledge of how to explain to others about how I like to analyze him and his actions. Im currently reading Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and after reading the assigned reading about reading with and against the grain of the text, I started to take foot notes on the side margins of the book about arguments of what Adolf should of done better and what he should not have done at all. This was my favorite thing about reading strategies, the most interesting thing I learned about writing strategies was all of the different types of writing. I personally love to read and usually dread writing because I have always taken the same approach when it comes to writing a paper but after seeing all of the different ways on how to write a paper, I think this may help me. I usually just find three main points and draw up a outline and then just make paragraphs out of the outline, but now I have realized that taking the same approach to writing every paper is stupid and is just hurting my ability as a writer because the goal of each essay is totally different usually and so it makes sense that your approach to writing it should be different.

I usually love to read ancient world history, i love reading about Julious Caesar, Alexander, and Genghis Kahn. I also read a lot of literature about the Nazi party in Germany and their actions in WWII. But my favorite books are about motorcycle clubs (gangs) such as Hells Angels and The Iron Horse Men. I love motorcycles and tattoos and i currently have only one tattoo and i am getting a Harley in my junior year.
Most of the writing i do is for classes. My favorite essay i have written was a research paper about Mc Donald's. Im not that big on writing except i really enjoyed my senior year english class. In that class we read different books from authors around the world, and we had to pick a quote in each chapter and we would write about how that quote connects to my life. It was just a really insightful activity to do and i liked it a lot.
The technology i am exposed to is just like most people. I have an Ipod and a Mac Book. One thing i am exposed to that most people are not is my father owns a tree care business so i work full time in the summer climbing trees and trimming them, and also fixing chain saws.
